About Veil

The Veil Project was conceived in early 2018 by James Burden, a recognized industry expert in crypto-privacy and holding a track record of founding and leading successful cryptocurrency projects like PIVX. The motivation for the project was recognition of the need for a currency that provided full-time privacy without compromising strength of anonymity.

With seed funding in excess of one million USD, a team of leading blockchain developers, including the well-respected Presstab, user experience experts and operations personnel was formed. Development started in August 2018, with the project's mainnet launch scheduled for Jan 1, 2019.

SELF-SUSTAINABILITY

A fundamental aspect of the project is the self-funding mechanism encoded into the network, providing funding for ongoing operations, marketing, partnerships, bounties and other activities underlying successful initiatives, as well as the formation of a decided entity, Veil Labs, charged with continued research and development in the areas of cryptography and blockchain development.

Kerudung Labs is an entity established by Project Kerudung, with its own budget, mission and team. The aim is to conduct research and development, and encourage technical boundaries in the domain of cryptography, privacy and blockchain technology.

Download Veil Wallet
The link to the release signed from our core wallet, made for Windows, macOS and Linux.


The current version is 1.0.2.0. Wallet problems are tracked in the GitHub Problem List, and the most important summaries are stored in our changelog. Daily blockchain snapshots are available for download on the Veil Tools site

In addition, we will provide paper wallet generators for mainnet and testnet. Although this generator can be run online and offline, as a privacy-centered project, our recommendation is to download and run it locally.

After releasing our core wallet, we will shift our focus to cellular wallets for Android and iOS, and explore integration with common hardware wallets - such as Ledger and Trezor.

Finally, integration with hardware wallets will be followed by work from the Veil Lab in an area called delegated placement, which allows Veil users to put their coins from the hardware wallet security.

To provide extensive distribution, the Veil network will be launched with a hybrid consensus approach including mining Proof-of-Stake and Proof-of-Work.
